Description: The IMPACT Program conducts research on LGBT Health and Development. It currently has over $7 million in NIH and foundation funded studies and actively collaborates with community based organization to conduct research and translate findings into interventions. It is directed by Dr. Brian Mustanski (see http://www.uic.edu/~bmustans) and is based in the Institute for Juvenile Research (IJR). The Institute has a 100 year history of conducting innovative research on the mental and behavioral health of youth and currently had more than 20 highly collaborative faculty. The Department of Psychiatry is consistently ranked as one of the top in NIH funding and the College of Medicine is the largest medical school in the country. UIC is the largest university in Chicago and one of the most diverse. It is the home to an interdisciplinary cadre of faculty conducting research and scholarship of relevance to the LGBT community.

Description: Crew 450 Project Coordinator Position- University of Illinois at Chicago The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago Campus is actively recruiting a Project Coordinator to direct a new NIH funded study on the development of a cluster of health risks among young gay and bisexual men. The candidate will join the IMPACT LGBT Health and Development Program, directed by Brian Mustanski, Ph.D., a productive research program based in the Institute for Juvenile Research. The appointee will oversee the operations of a new NIH funded longitudinal study of young gay and bisexual men that is being conducted in partnership with Howard Brown Health Center—one of the nation’s largest LGBT health centers. The Project Coordinator will work in partnership with Howard Brown-based Project Director to implement standards for research protocol management and policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality management of research studies in compliance with all institutional and grant facility requirements. This will include managing the day-to-day operations and ensuring implementation of the studies' specific aims at the UIC site: supervising data collection staff, assuring quality data collection, and monitoring progress. The Project Coordinator will be involved in implementation of the project as needed, including: conducting assessments and interviews, tracking participants, and developing research protocols.

Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred in mental or public health. Bachelor’s degree is acceptable with strong experience/background. Two to five years experience required coordinating research and/or service projects, preferable in a university setting. Strong communication skills required. Experience with the LGBT community, HIV, Mental Health, and/or Substance Abuse is strongly preferred. Racial minorities and LGBT individuals are especially encouraged to apply.
