| Description: |
The Department of Ambulatory Care and Prevention at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care seeks an experienced Project Manager to manage a five year research initiative called “Improving Primary Care to Prevent Childhood Obesity,” funded by the National Institutes of Health. The Project is sponsoring an intervention in Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates pediatric practices to help prevent obesity among young children. The central office for the program is at 133 Brookline Avenue in Boston.
The Project Manager will handle day-to-day management of the project, including coordinating project team and supervising staff, complex financial management, and preparation of applications and final reports. Candidate must be able to manage a substantial research project with multiple staff, handle competing priorities, and have strong financial management and team building skills.
Duties include:
Serve as liaison with clinical practices in study
Organize clinical training sessions for participating clinicians
Prepare protocols and applications for Institutional Review Board
Work with senior level staff at health care practice sites to negotiate and implement study protocols
Manage project budget, including multiple subcontracts; track expenses and plan for effective allocation of financial resources.
Prepare reports to research team and funding agencies
Hire, supervise and train Research Assistants
Coordinate database design and monitor protocols for data transfer and collection
Set agendas for project meetings
Assist with writing reports and manuscripts
Identify problems and develop and implement appropriate solutions

| Compensation: |
$65,000 - $70,000 year |
| Qualifications: |
Necessary skills and experience:
Master’s degree strongly preferred and at least three years of experience managing research programs; proficiency with Microsoft office and SAS statistical software; understanding of research principles; demonstrated experience using project management principles; proficiency in financial management; superior interpersonal and written communication skills; excellent organizational skills; supervisory experience; ability to adhere to project timelines and set priorities effectively. |
