Description: The Division of Violence Prevention (DVP) in the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking an Associate Service Fellow to work with the Sexual, Community, and Youth Violence Team in the Prevention Development and Evaluation Branch (PDEB). The Prevention Development and Evaluation Branch (PDEB) supports intramural and extramural violence prevention research projects. Efforts include the prevention of youth violence, child maltreatment, sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and suicide.

Description: The fellow will contribute to research on the development, implementation, and evaluation of violence prevention strategies, programs, and policies. Specifically, the fellow will assist in the administration of extramural projects (cooperative agreements and contracts); provide assistance to extramural grantees on all aspects of program operations, including budget and fiscal matters and scientific regulatory processes (e.g., IRB/OMB); provide technical assistance and research support to behavioral scientists and epidemiologists for multiple research projects on violence prevention; contribute to all aspects of preparing, analyzing, and disseminating research projects and findings; conduct data analyses; develop tables and graphics for data presentation; and collaborate in preparing studies for reports and scientific journals.

Qualifications: This fellowship is open to all citizens of the United States or legal permanent residents with a work authorization. Applicants are responsible for obtaining the necessary work authorization. Applicants must have successfully completed a master’s degree or higher in psychology, epidemiology, public health, or a related field (e.g. sociology, social or health sciences, etc). Experience and/or applied coursework in (a) research methods and study design; (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data; and (c) applying statistical techniques such as simple and multiple correlation, regression modeling, analysis of variance, and significance testing is highly desirable. Skill in using SAS, STATA, SPSS, SUDAAN, or other statistical software for complex quantitative data is expected. Strong speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills are also highly desirable.

Other: The Associate Service Fellow will be offered an initial 2-year appointment, which may be extended up to 2 years by mutual agreement. A starting date will be determined by mutual agreement. An initial salary of $58,206 - $90,698 will be offered based on education and experience. Salary increases will be commensurate with performance. Associate Service Fellows are eligible for sick leave, annual leave, thrift savings (401(k) equivalent), and health and life insurance.
