Description: Supervises the Crater Health District Family Planning, WIC (Women, Infants, & Children), Immunization Programs and Petersburg Health Department nursing programs. Exercises line supervision over registered nurses and multidisciplinary staff by training, scheduling, formally evaluating performance and managing plans for improvement and/or correction. Oversees the activities of specialty areas district-wide by serving as the subject matter expert. Responsibilities include developing and monitoring budget(s), recruiting staff, procuring and administering grants, community needs assessment, resource allocation, quality assurance of service delivery, and serving as a district resource development. Occasionally performs direct nursing service by providing professional nursing care to patients in clinics, homes, and school.
Compensation: 45,055 - 62,500
Qualifications: Knowledge of: principles and practices of PH Nursing, federal and state laws, regulations and policies relating to PH nursing and programs, leadership practices as relates to employee performance, change management, organizational goals, and budget process. Skilled in: standard nursing procedures, developing goals, objectives and standards of nursing programs, performing community assessments, automated systems application. Ability to function independently and in a team environment. Ability to: demonstrate effective oral and written communication work with culturally diverse populations, establish and maintain effective working relationships with local officials and the community, plan and implement programs to meet identified community needs, successful grant writing and other program resources, manage and evaluate nursing programs. Must have VA RN licensure or eligible to obtain. Knowledge and experience in use of computers and computer applications preferred; skilled in internet, email and Microsoft Office. District events, meetings, emergency operations, etc. may require some weekend and/or evening hours. Must have or be eligible to obtain a valid driver's license; district travel required. A pre-appointment national criminal records and background check required. Prefer BSN, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience can substitute for educational preferences, Public Health Nursing and recent supervisory experience of nursing professionals. Bilingual in English and Spanish desired.
