Description: The mission of the Child and Adolescent Health (CAH) section is to promote, support and provide public health leadership for state and community-based systems that assure the health and well being of children, youth, and families. The position plans, develops, implements, and oversees Project LAUNCH (Linking Actions for Unmet Needs in Children’s Health) activities. This position, under the supervision of the section manager, is the Project LAUNCH Coordinator Child Wellness Expert. Project LAUNCH is a federal grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The planned duration is five years, pending federal funding and approval. The purpose of Project LAUNCH is to promote the wellness (physical, emotional, social and behavioral health) of children birth to eight. This position will staff a State Child Wellness Council and oversee strategic planning and implementation at the state level. This position will also manage a contract with Yakima County, the Project LAUNCH local partner. Yakima County will convene a Local Child Wellness Council and implement evidence-based interventions to promote child wellness. This position will provide technical assistance to and assure ongoing coordination with Project LAUNCH in Yakima County.
   
Compensation: $3,918 - $5,136 Monthly, depending on qualificatiosn
Qualifications: Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree or higher in public health, health care administration, public or business administration, education or allied field. • Two (2) or more years of professional management or consultative experience in a health services program. The Department of Health is most interested in candidates who exhibit the following knowledge, skills and abilities: • Knowledge of: principles and practices of public health; early childhood mental health; evidence based practices to promote child wellness; community mobilization; effective communication techniques; principles and practices of organization and administration; research and study methods; and report preparation. • Ability to mobilize people and resources to address an issue, and develop and convene internal and external partnerships and workgroups. • Ability to facilitate group decision making and reach consensus. Ability to perform effective long-range planning, to think strategically, and to create and implement logic models. • Ability to incorporate and apply best and promising practices in community based settings. • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with persons of all ages and lifestyle preferences and from diverse cultural, racial, socioeconomic, educational, ethnic and professional backgrounds on sensitive subject matter. • Adapt easily to changing program needs. Adapt approach, goals, and methods to achieve successful solutions and results in dynamic situations • Ability to use Microsoft Office software and internet to access and share information and to maintain electronic communications.
