| Description: |
Responsibilities:
o Directs research and ensures scientific accuracy of Safe Kids Worldwide initiatives. Develops, implements and evaluates program strategy that supports identified childhood injury prevention initiatives. Responsible for research, statistics, and development and writing stages of childhood injury program(s).
o Directs data collection, research, statistical evaluation, and proposal writing. Oversees the tracking of sources of childhood injury data. Designs survey instruments, primary research data methods and program evaluations. Analyzes injury data on existing prevention programs and its usefulness to Safe Kids. Provides data and statistical information for Safe Kids Web site and fact sheets.
o Develops injury-specific program strategies and support materials. Provides strategies and assistance to develop injury prevention program(s) based on research and statistical data from injury prevention field. Coordinates and provides leadership for projects with peer organizations and sponsors. Serves as Safe Kids liaison to organizations, supplying data and research assistance.
o Oversees injury epidemiologists, responds to requests from coalitions, Safe Kids staff, and general public. Provides accurate and timely responses to requests for injury prevention information. Provides assistance to coalitions with statistical information and facts on childhood injuries and injury prevention. Serves as a resource for coalitions, collecting and analyzing state and local injury data.
o Evaluates resource materials for dissemination and conducts conference presentations. Coordinates and gathers data and information for Safe Kids resources and products. Coordinates and presents Safe Kids information to coalition leaders, sponsors, and outside organizations. Provides leadership and assistance for program workshops at the annual Safe Kids Leadership Conference. Integrates Teleform Automated Data processing software into all Safe Kids data collection activities including coalition self-assessments, CCLC evaluations, etc.
o Ensures all information materials contain the highest quality and most up-to-date information. Directs development of materials to support programs, including brochures and videos. Coordinates external review of all materials developed for public dissemination. Oversees the efforts of the Safe Kids Worldwide Technical Advisory Board.
o Serves as internal consultant on all programmatic information. Serves as an internal consultant to leadership team to ensure program quality, consistency and accuracy.
o Consults with coalitions on programmatic issues.
o Serves as Safe Kids spokesperson. Participates in print and broadcast media interviews. Serves on key committees in injury prevention community. Speaks at key injury prevention conferences on behalf of Safe Kids Worldwide.
o Monitors and facilitates papers and presentations documenting Safe Kids research findings. Monitors scholarly journals to increase knowledge base in current injury research methodology and developments across all risk areas. Facilitates utilization of national injury databases for grant writing, program planning, and media use. Authors (co-authors) papers and presentations documenting Safe Kids research findings for submission to peer-reviewed scholarly journals. Presents Safe Kids research findings to coalition coordinators, sponsors and other organizations within the public health community.
o Supports implementation of organizational culture that reflects accountability and adaptability. Articulates key cultural drivers and values and communicates values to staff. Holds self and leadership team accountable for developing and modeling identified cultural values. Role models expected organizational behaviors.
o Develops and directs program staff. Identifies, develops, leads and motivates high performing team. Fosters a success-oriented, accountability-driven culture. Develops human resources plans for staff including mentoring, coaching and development, selection, compensation, and corrective actions. Deploys staff appropriately to meet business objectives. Develops staffing plans/schedules to optimize productivity and ensure quality services.

| Qualifications: |
Requirements:
o Master’s degree, Doctorate degree preferred - or equivalent experience. International experience preferred and a plus.
o Eight to ten years of research and program related progressive experience; injury prevention experience preferred
o Extensive coursework in epidemiology and/or biostatistics.
o Minimum five to seven years supervisory experience required.
o Expert knowledge of injury prevention field and or maternal and child health.
o Knowledge of Teleform, SPSS, SAS or other statistical software.
o Licensure/certification in specialty required as applicable
